People need to be heard, and sometimes the quietest people have the most important things to say. Finding and using trends and patterns in data is one way to find that voice.
I have been a champion of using data as the basis of making decisions for 39 years, and can even pinpoint the exact day and time of that choice. Since then I have worked in 23 industries and have never been bored. My roles have varied a bit, but pretty much center on talking with people about their goals and information requirements, and working with other people to develop data solutions. At the same time, I am student and teacher, designer and developer, guide and translator.
Specifically, I have worked as:
- Business Analyst
- Project Manager
- Analytics Consultant
- Business Intelligence Manager
- Process Analyst
- Skillset Guide
- Financial Analyst
- Data Warehouse Developer
- Charter Fishing Boat Driver (retired)
When not at work I can usually be found in the woods splitting wood, cutting trails and building survival shelters. The Great Lakes region is a fantastic place to be, and I am a real fan of Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota and the Canadian provinces.
